The Moody Blues
The Moody Blues hail from south of London, though three of the four remaining members were born in Birmingham (Justin Hayward hails from Swindon, Wiltshire). They have scored numerous Billboard Top Ten hits, and have sold millions of records world wide. They pioneered what later came to be termed as the "concept" album, and were among the first to integrate synthesizers such as the bulky Mellotron and the psychedelic Moog Synthesizer into mainstream pop music. Their music was 90% spiritual. They were known as an "albums band" because they wrote their songs for the contribution to the whole of the album, instead of writing or recording something merely to be released as a single. Since the release of their dynamic and revolutionary concept album Days Of Future Passed--the first succession marriage of rock 'n' roll and a full symphony orchestra--in 1967, the Moody Blues have completed and released no fewer than fourteen total albums with an average of ten songs per album. Their most recent, Strange Times (released August 17, 1999) brings them full circle in their careers as musicians, entertainers... and musical virtuosos. Read more about the Moody Blues |
